Gingivitis - Why You Must Stop It
Now...
Gingivitis sounds rather innocent on the
surface. I can assure that it is far from that. You see,
we are lulled into a state of complacency when we hear
that this disease is fully reversible. That is true, but
how do you know when you have slipped over the line
between this and full blown gum disease?
Therein lies the difficulty. Another problem is that many
people have this disease for a long period of time. We tend to
hear about it from our dentist only when the problems have
become noticeable. Some dentists do train their patients about
periodontal disease. However, many do not or do not do much
towards patient education.
This is understandable, dentists are very busy. The members
of their staff that are qualified to teach you about this
disease are also burdened by the hustle and bustle of the
day.
To complicate matters many patients really do need repeated,
in-depth exposure to really 'get it'. How many people really
believe they are in danger of losing their teeth and / or
facing expensive and painful treatments to save their teeth or
lost gum tissue? Most just can't see that in their future.
However, the statistics are staggering. You must recognize,
stop or prevent gingivitis from progressing into full blown gum
disease. Your teeth as well as the amount of gum tissue you
have hangs in the balance. Almost everyone would prefer to have
a beautiful smile than not.
You can spend a lot of money and pain on extractions,
implants or dentures that can really look good. But these are
hardly as good as what mother nature provided you. Next: Follow
the links below to learn what you can do to stop and prevent
the progression of gingivitis and gum disease.
